‘Born from explosion, born to glow bright. Chaos-to-order. Cosmic violent beauty bursts through the dark to light; a teal blaze smears the horizon. Open your eyes. Inhale the night. Discover the mineral abyss of space through subtle metallic accords entangled with frosty aromatic nuances and a deep, dusky mix of oud and grey amber.’ – Gritti
I’m going to keep this first impression brief; if you like Marc-Antoine Barrois Ganymede, you will like Gritti Super Nova.
I don’t know if the similarity is on purpose, although with the name and concept, I think it’s very hard to argue that there’s clear inspiriation taken here. Super Nova is the closest thing I’ve smelled to Ganymede EDP by far, which is a good thing, because Ganymede is in my top 10 fragrances of all time. And a less good thing, because, well, originality.
This is even closer to Ganymede EDP than its Extrait flanker is. Super Nova goes in the other direction, a bit brighter and more aromatic. A bit more watery and shampoo-like to my nose, with similar spiciness and mineralic qualities. Just a smidge less spicy and perhaps sweet, than Ganymede, with a plasticy saffron-esque facet coming through more on my skin. Different in the details for sure, but close enough to probably be redundant to most people.
The best thing I’ve smelled from Gritti so far, but Ganymede for the win, always.
