      SUMMER 26 (2026) • FFERN, ScentAdvice

‘Come, traveller. This summer, adventure awaits you in a land of myth and legend. Here the world sparkles with light so vivid it seems ground from precious jewels – and the scent of sun-warmed roses drifts on the air, a twist of green at its heart… For Summer 26, we have designed a citrus-floral fragrance, which opens with a mouthwatering burst. A new addition to Ffern’s palette, our Corsican clementine is dewy and glittering, singing of ripe summer days. A cross between sweet orange and willowleaf mandarin, this beautiful note gentles the sharper, tangy profiles of green mandarin and white grapefruit. Leaving these vermillion fruits, we travel through woods to a green space mantled with silken blossoms, threaded with green tendrils. Could this be the Green Chapel* of Arthurian tales? Rambling between branches and over the crumbling stones of an old ruin, we discover the heart of our fragrance – a peach-coloured flower, pale and open. For this romantic bloom, we blended two roses with our clementine. We chose essential oil of damask, deep and jammy, for its intensity, and light, powdery absolute of the hundred-petalled Rose de Mai to add a touch of delicacy. A marriage of equals. Amid the flowers, peering into their delicate shadows, twines a joyful green vine. A curlicued sweet pea, wending its way up through stony ruins to reach the sun. As sweetpea has no fragrant oil of its own, here we wove aromatic basil with galbanum, petitgrain and blackcurrant bud. The result is fresh and verdant, as if these shoots have just let drip their drink of dew, refreshing our roses with summer’s growth. The sunlight calls us on. Through the trees, yellow heat burns the dew off lucent grasses. We cross into wide fields, burnished with bearded barley, radiating dry heat. Searching for these toasted notes, we came across bran, vanillic and hazy, deeply reminiscent of the French fields in which it grows. Another new ingredient for Ffern, bran lingers on the skin, bringing longevity to our vibrant and more volatile heart notes. Across the meads, what journeys await us? Summer is a questing season – follow your instincts, and take the winding path.’ – Ffern
