‘An intense yet discreet fragrance with exotic and pleasantly spicy notes. Sri Lanka opens with sparkling notes of ginger, a typical root of the island from which the perfume takes its name, to then give way to a heart of Ceylon red tea, a precious ingredient with surprising tonic properties. The base note of vetiver and cedar wood gives the perfume a pleasant persistence. Legend has it that tea was discovered by an Indian Buddhist monk named Dharma. During a trip to China, the monk began a long meditation, but at the end of the seventh year, he gave in and fell asleep. Awakening abruptly, he decided to remove his eyelids so he could never sleep again. Impressed by such devotion, Buddha caused tea plants with unmistakable eyelid-shaped leaves to sprout in the exact spot where the monk had buried his own. After tasting the leaves, Dharma found that they were able to grant meditators the energy needed to resist sleep.’ – Optico
