Can one man have too many iris fragrances? Well, probably. Lucky for me, Splendiris is not your average iris, if an iris-centered fragrance at all. Allow me to explain…

There are a couple of facets that stand out in Splendiris to me, iris being just one of them. Arguably more prominent is the scent of violets and a ‘green morning dew’.

That dewy quality adds some almost aquatic touches here. Maybe the color of the juice imprints this in my mind as well, but especially for an ‘iris’, there’s a wetness here.

This type of violet always leans a tad fruity to me and that is accentuated with fig in Splendiris. In general, it is very floral however.

Otherwise, this starts off clean. No (white) musk is listed in the notes, but it feels very much like there’s a musky, fresh linen air all over this composition.

From my collection this most closely resembles Frederic Malle Iris Poudre. What Splendiris introduces is a bit more warmth and sweetness. After the opening, some vanillic sweetness comes through. More of a woody carroty iris accord seeps through as well, but I’d still say the iris is somewhat subtle.

The watery florals (violet) define this perhaps more than a (powdery) iris does. Easy going and one of the most versatile Dusita fragrances.
