I had quite an interesting journey with Soliflore (my first time trying Scentologia). After first applying it, I figured this would be too sweet for my liking. I didn’t register the brightness that was promised to me on my sample card, but as time went on, more of the brighter facets came to life.
This is not a soliflore, despite the naming. It’s quite a bouquet instead, with a mix of candied sweet tones, but definitely a strong soapy core as well. And that combination turns Soliflore into something nice. I was at times reminded of the ‘champagne’ florals of a Atelier des Ors Pink Me Up and perhaps more so Liquides Imaginaires Dom Rosa. But at it’s sweetest and most vibrant, even of a a Commodity Juice.
I was wearing Soliflore, alongside Roja Parfums Nuwa and whereas I initially found the Scentologia to go sweet quickly, I ended up finding more of the freshness on that side, rather than on my Nuwa-doused arm. I think this made me appreciate Soliflore more than I figured in the first minutes.
Frankly, I’d have to try it again to see where I land on this; I feel like I haven’t been able to get the best impression yet. But it’s definitely a nice fragrance, that in particular wears and feels nicely on skin. It’s not harsh or thin, too loud or too delicate. It opens the door to more testing from this brand for me.
