Skins is a niche perfumery franchise with many stores in The Netherlands and one in Belgium close to where I live. After their exclusive collaboration with Vilhelm, they teamed up with Dutch brand Salle Privée and I enjoy this release more.
This fragrance isn’t necessarily my style of choice, but it grabbed my attention and it has some facets that kept me interested on my subsequent wearing. It is sharp, zesty (ginger), green and woody. I picture pencils shavings drenched in citrus and ginger. It’s almost too acidic for it’s own good and perhaps the 30% concentration adds to that. There is a slight bitter tinge and a metallic, clinical spice which at first it reminded me a bit of the bitter green (and ill-conceived?) beast that is Frederic Malle Uncut Gem. However, Skins x Salle Privée is more wearable and fun to me.
What makes it interesting to me is a slight lactonic undertone and the carrot-iris tinge. It has that milky green woody vibe that a lot of Santal 33 derivatives have (not unlike Skins x Vilhelm). The lasting zesty citrus here sets it apart and makes for a good performing warm-weather option. Not a wishlist item for me, but fun enough to explore.
