‘The second of “two siblings” created from the Zaharoff Signature Pour Homme! We took this extraordinary fragrance and added citrus oils, Juniper, and Apple, creating a magnificent blend with wood and balsamic notes. We kept it simple in the middle notes with Lavender, Pimento Leaves, and Magnolia. It is in the bottom notes that we made it fun and edgy with a “cashmeran” blend of Woods, Musk, and Vanilla. At some points in your journey with this fragrance you can smell a Suede accord as these oils bounce and play on your skin! Intoxicating and alluring. The freshness of a Gentle Breeze and a fleeting shower carry the aroma of citrus, flowers, and spices while the familiar warm embrace of cashmerans and musk invite you on a spirited sensual journey not soon forgotten. ‘ – Zaharoff
I actually have trouble describing Royale. It has the fougere elements from Signature Pour Homme, but it’s sweeter. It’s also the driest of the three Zaharoff’s that I’ve tried, almost powdery.
You get the lavender, but it’s not jumping out as much as in Signature Pour Homme, because of the supporting notes. I feel like the patchouli in Royale is a big player. It’s very bright and fresh still, with apple, juniper, cardamom, citrus, but in my opinion this has less of a sparkling, fizzy opening than the original had. The resinous backbone of the Zaharoff DNA, plus an additional woodiness is coming through early.
There’s a combination of the fresh, traditional masculine fragrance vibe that smells as bit mature and classy, with the sweeter amber accord and dry woods and patchouli. It seemingly creates more of a contrast, but the way it’s blended makes it feel like one, which is why I have trouble accurately describing this scent profile.
What I can tell you is that Royale feels the most modern and most (amber, vanillic) sweet of the Zaharoff’s that I mentioned. Signature Pour Homme feels a bit more traditional fougere-ish, but has a beautiful spark and the sweetness is more fruity. Signature Noir surprisingly has the most citrus opening to me, with a kick of ginger, but dries down to a slightly heavier Signature Pour Homme. Noir and Signature Pour Homme feel closer to one another, than Royale does. I like all three, but Royale is my favorite.
