‘Shouq is a titillating scent creating a magical moment. Evoking the desire to be with your lover and to step towards forever. A touch of Shouq on your skin will unleash your soul from within. Shouq translates to desire and unbridles your inner fire. Unveil your hidden sensuality to take your intimacy to a level you never been…’ – Jazeel
I found Shouq a bit harder to describe or even perceive than the others from the house. It’s one of the lighter fragrances from the ones I’ve tried and a stark contrast to the powerhouses that some of the others are.
Shouq is mostly compared to Xerjoff Alexandria II and I can see why. No perfumer is listed for Shouq, but there’s a good chance it’s Chris Maurice, who also did Alexandria II (he is credited for some other Jazeel creations).
It opens like a dry, aromatic fragrance. As it develops, it gets very powdery on my skin. There is something that I can’t pinpoint in the smell, that I I do not enjoy; mind you that I also don’t enjoy Alexandria II.
That’s not to say that I dislike the fragrance overall; it’s a well-rounded, clean and easy to wear fragrance; one of the more versatile and easy going options from Jazeel. However, most of their other releases feel like upgrades over similar fragrances that are out there; I’m not sure if I feel the same about Shouq.
