I had a chance to try the Orens line in store and there were 3 that stood out on first impression. However, Serr D’Eden is the one that really jumped out at me, so I brought home a sample.
Serr D’Eden starts off very bright and a bit sharp. It has crisp citrus notes with a strong soapy aromatic tinge and a lot of pepper. The spices tickle your nose, but it comes across clean at the same time. Even more surprising, there’s a vanilla/labdanum combination that pushes through the citrus and aromatics; kind of reminding me of the way the vanilla behaves in Nishane Ani.
It’s a really hard mix to pin down, because after some minutes the florals come through. Some hints remind me of coca cola, some of a more creamy vanilla, some of a more aromatic masculine leaning cologne. The labdanum is Shalimar-esque, but it’s overall way more citric and sharp.
As it dries down it grows more into a amber woody fragrance mixed with a shaving foam-type of scent.
I can’t say that I’ve come across another fragrance like this and I’m putting Serr D’Eden on my wishlist for now. The scent is invigorating and complex, while not per se the most comforting to wear.
