Woody notes, musk, coffee, birch, rhubarb, labdanum and it’s an extrait the parfum, so you can imagine the density and heaviness just based on that.
It’s blended in an amazing way, and overall it reminds me a bit of certain Amouages. Upon my initial spray, I thought I was not going to enjoy Savannah’s Heart as much as I did, because you’re hit with a hefty dose of dark woods and that, almost spicy, nutty, rhubarb twist. It reminded me of Amouage Opus II a bit. I haven’t been a fan of rhubarb in fragrances, but luckily, here it’s balanced by the other strong notes.
It’s slightly animalic, musky. I woulnd’t go as far as saying challenging, but it’s not a light wear, especially in the first minutes. Bergamot is the note giving some welcome levity.
I can’t say that I pick up on a lot of coffee. It is there, but it’s like a bitter ground coffee, that’s being overpowered by the woody notes. Basically, that’s what you need to expect; a heavy woody scent, with some nuances, but it’s super smooth and well-crafted, making it so that I started loving it. I can imagine if you like rhubarb, this one could blow your mind. Longevity is excellent with Savannah’s Heart (it was a bit too warm when I wore it, but it will last you a workday+ regardless). You can get 50ml/100€ or 100ml/170€ at the time of writing, for an extrait de parfum with gorgeous presentation, which isn’t half bad, and good perfumers, so I’m curious why this house isn’t talked about more often.
