The Harmonist upgraded their Royal Earth EDP, which I reviewed a while ago, with the release of Royal Earth Parfum. This is more than a concentration change, as Royal Earth Parfum deviates quite a bit and I’m about to tell you why I prefer it over its predecessor.
Royal Earth was a nice, fresh rooty iris. I found it to be clean, inoffensive and generally a good release. However, it wasn’t the most exciting or surprising scent and the Parfum addresses that nicely.
Parfum adds rose, ylang-ylang and passionfruit to name some and it’s instantly a much livelier, fruitier scent profile. The passionfruit in the opening is the star of the show for me; unfortunately it will fade after a while.
It has a similar rooty iris base, but that also has an added sweetness instead of the greener tinge from the EDP. I will say that the additions have steered the DNA a bit more towards the traditionally feminine leaning end of the spectrum, but I would prefer wearing the Parfum myself.
This feels like a wholly different wearing experience. It still retains the clean, almost watery touch that I find in most of The Harmonist (Moon Glory being the exception), but here it’s warmer and cozier than in the original.
Royal Earth is no longer ‘another iris’ scent in its Parfum variant, but a unique experience that absolutely feels like it belongs in between the lovely Yin Transformation and Moon Glory, as I think the Extraits are this brands’ highlights.
