Goldfield & Banks keeps up with their somewhat less-mainstream-seeking releases that surprise me.
Rose Magnitude sounds like it could be yet another rose scent, but I was surprised to find this one borderline leathery, oudy-woody. No saffron, leather or oud listed in the notes, but it’s a rather hefty, darker and drier take with the rose at times barely being noticeable on my skin.
The opening has a sharpness to it that exudes a similar type of class as a Roja Taif Aoud, but I find Rose Magnitude to have even more of a suede-like feeling.
It stays on the floral side after that, but not with a super pronounced rose. Besides that, the spices, the woods and that leathery scent sticks around as more prominent for me.
I definitely missed some levity here; it’s not necessarily too heavy, but it also doesn’t have any real brightness, or a more citrussy edge up top like for example Ormonde Jayne Bijou Zafran, which I tried the week prior.
Overall, not really up my alley, but I do like that Goldfield & Banks doesn’t take the easy way out with a lot of their recent releases.
