To be totally honest, I was looking forward to trying Akro East, but could only get my hands on Rise for the moment and it’s, as I expected, not really my jam.

Pineapple is very prominent in this, with a sun tan-coconutty backdrop. Sweet, but not really gourmand straight away and quite acidic. The pineapple is like a thick, overripe juice; a pineapple drink that’s been left out in the sun for too long. Similar to, but not as good as, the pineapple in Gallivant Los Angeles for example.

Something in this reminded me instantly of a more fruity and less watery Jean-Paul Gaultier Le Beau. It has a general ‘designer’ air.

The scent is okay, albeit far from to my liking, but the way it wears feels like a step down from any of the other Akro releases as well.

As it dries more, it becomes more gourmand, more vanillic. I still don’t love the scent profile, but it does negate some of the overripe pineapple which I liked less. Rise doesn’t do it for me.
