My first experience with Pineward and it was a good one. Even though I was not a fan of the first minutes. It smelled interesting, but style-wise, it’s something I never gravitate towards in perfumes. You get a smoky and spicy forest. A lot of clove, but perhaps also a birch-esque woodiness and there’s a camphorous mint. The only sweetness I get initially is a eucalyptus like scent; kind of like a VapoRub.
Lucky for me, that changes quicky. A strong sugary and spicy apple scent comes through. Like an apple syrup (which I often used to have on bread growing up). There’s also a bread-like quality to it. As it starts to dry down a booziness comes through, but it’s dry. Like spilled booze dried up on a tree bark.
It becomes rather sweet and festive; the spices reminding one of the Holiday season. Clove can be divisive and if you don’t like the note, Revelries could be too much, especially because the projection and sillage seems to be well above average.
I had just purchased Serge Lutens Arabie the week before trying Revelries and the spices are quite similar to my nose, with Revelries adding a lot of cinnamon and an apple scent as main differentiating factor. Aside from the opening minutes, it’s very cozy and great sweet Winter/Autumn niche scent.
