‘Thai Local Spirits x SIAM1928.’ – Siam1928

Given how intriguing Yodbeer was from this Siam1928 x Thai Local Spirits collection, I had a feeling that Red Jungle would be a fun sampling experience. And it was.

A lifelike, but candied, grape and raisin scent straight from the opening. A mix of boozy and lemonade to my nose. Sweet, but definitely with a piercing, perhaps even daring, edge to it.

I get an almost mentholated smokiness in the background (I often get that from berries, blackcurrant). I was reminded of an unripe plum, with slight hits of suede-saffron.

This is kind of what I expected Zoologist Sacred Scarab to smell like, but whereas that opens super aldehydic, Red Jungle has more of a sharp acidity to it. It’s tangy.

The drydown surprised me, as all I could smell was frankincense. Full-on, in your-face, sweet frankincense, which still has a lot of freshness and tanginess to it. Frankincense isn’t one of the notes, mind you, but that’s how I perceived it, strongly.

Overall, really nice, with quite a lot happening during the wear. Siam1928 continues to impress me.
