Pourpre D’Automne (Purple of Autumn) has a fitting name given the notes of violet, iris and plum. To me this is one of the most interesting fragrances from Maison Violet (albeit it not my favorite, which would be Sketch).
The house has many iris-centric fragrances, with Tanagra probably being the closest to Pourpre D’Automne to me. They both have a watery, dewy quality; from freesia in Tanagra, but in Pourpre D’Automne, violet is a prominent note.
While ‘dewy’, it’s simultaneously dry and a tad sharp. I would almost go as far as saying this is a spicy fragrance at times. The plum and peach listed don’t make the composition overly fruity and it’s a very mature and understated scent-profile, that still lets the iris shine.
As mentioned, it is dry; definitely more chalky than powder, with violet being the main factor in determining if people will appreciate it or not. Rightfully compared to Misia (Maison Violet shares quite a bit of similarities to the Chanel Les Exclusifs line, with its retro-styled iris hearts).
