‘Pomona Vitalis opens with fruity facets of lychee, strawberry and apple balanced with a sparkle of bergamot. The lychee complements the rose heart, enhancing the sense of dewy, fresh, petals. The heart revolves around a multi-faceted rose with both Bulgarian rose oil with radiant metallic, green geranium shades and fruity wine top notes, and the Rose Absolute brings a distinctive rich and voluptuous sweetness with spicy green honey and tobacco undertones. With a whisper of lavender. The base is warm and enveloping with balmy vanilla and benzoin facets, creamy shares of sandalwood and styrax which enriches the resinous character and depth adding a leathery tone’ – Christian Provenzano
This is arguably my favorite Electimuss, overtaking Vixere so far.
Pomona Vitalis is a mix match of notes, that don’t quite reflect the scent directly. I’ve seen people describe this as a gourmand, and while it definitely has gourmand touches with a dark chocolate tinge, it other notes prevent it from going fully gourmand to my nose. It’s been compared to Tom Ford Noir de Noir and it’s definitely in the same direction.
Most prominent is a minty patchouli, that has that bitter chocolate tinge at times, but is still earthy and not fully edible. Picture an earthy, green rose or geranium with a minty edge in the opening. Almost clove-like at times. That fresher edge does fade.
As it dries down a milky, but subtle sandalwood note pushes through, really making this a patchouli-sandalwood scent to my nose, with florals next and a sweetness. Fruitiness is limited (strawberry is listed, but I don’t really get that vibe at all on first impression; strawberry is one of the few notes that I find hard to pull off as a man, but I’d say Pomona Vitalis leans traditionally masculine). If anything this has a deeper, dried fruits element that you would find in something like Nasomatto Baraonda.
As it dries down further a dark chocolate syrup with earth tones persists. The chocolate core really sets Pomona Vitalis apart and makes this a potential 10 out of 10 (further testing is needed). Love at first sniff for me.
