‘Poivre Rubis is an invitation to a sensory journey where the exoticism of Timut pepper and the tangy sweetness of raspberry blend together. From the very opening, bergamot and black pepper awaken the senses, revealing a vibrant heart of Sichuan pepper and pink berries while a fresh and juicy raspberry accord unveils its character and almost ingenuous sweetness. The base, lightly woody with notes of olibanum incense and cashmere, establishes a velvety and captivating depth. Poivre Rubis is a fragrance that celebrates the art of blending spices and berries, offering an explosion of piquancy and captivating sensuality.’ – Superfumista
I had the pleasure of trying out Poivre Rubis ahead of its official release, as the sample came with my purchase of Infra Rose.
This is definitely a unique fragrance and one that I found hard to put into words, so I’m just going to share a brief first impression for now.
The imagery that came to mind mostly when smelling Poivre Rubis was that of slick, red fruits and vegetables. Picture the outside of a chili pepper, paprika. I get hints of rhubarb and at some point, of tomato leaf. All covered in doses of pepper that tickle the nose.
As opposed to some strongly peppered scents, it doesn’t come across as dry or rough. It’s slick and it’s vibrant. The sort of neon-colored cap captures the spirit of this invigorating scent well.
