I grabbed this sample, because people say it’s reminiscent of Xerjoff More Than Words and that has one of my favorite openings. Although I can’t completely agree with the comparison, Poem Of Damas is a beautiful fragrance.
Essentially, this is a fruity, floral oud. Straight from the opening, I feel like it’s much darker and less sparkling than More Than Words, which has a bright coca cola opening to me. It’s one of my favorite openings ever, but the drydown leaves a lot to be desired.
Poem Of Damas on the other hand, doesn’t have the same magic in the opening for me, but it’s much better balanced for an entire wear. It opens with a beautiful fruity scent, quite sweet. It reminds me a little bit of Oud Satin Mood in style (and also Amouroud Oud Du Jour).
Quickly, I get much more of a darker floral (mainly rose) scent however, pushing it more in the direction of the ‘bold’ rose fragrances that you get in the lines of Lorga, L’Orchestre, Carner’s Black line or Olibere. It’s dark, sensual, maybe slightly feminine to some people, with the fruity edge, but at the same time quite daring. The woody scent underneath carries it for a long time and it feels like a thick scent cloud (it’s an extrait).
This is a rose for the colder months, more than it is a fruity scent in my opinion. And if it’s like More Than Words, it’s a darker flanker. Quality and performance are top notch. I like Eye Of Seven Hills and King Of Flowers even better from the house, but Poem Of Damas is solid.
