No. 23 is a departure from the other Pierre de Velay that I’d tried before it. It’s a heavier and bigger scent. I get an animalic (civet) leather. It takes me back to Areej Le Dore’s Cuir de Russie and some older civet and white floral Guerlains like Jicky.

It’s all high frequency, sharp, zesty, but it’s opulent and dense in texture. It becomes a tad smoky as it goes on and I start liking it more and more. There’s just enough sweetness coming through as it dries to help with wearability for my taste. At 3 hours in; it’s a much sweeter and smooth scent; still indolic, but easier to pull off. It smells as expensive as it is (€575/100ml); it was my favorite of the 5 Pierre de Velay Roja’s that I’ve tried.
