‘At the rise of dawn in Paris, cut through the delicious freshness of early morning and be renewed with the beauty of life. Le Petit Matin eau de parfum is like a stroll through the empty streets and arcades of Paris in the early morning light. This citrusy floral fragrance is carried by the luminous vitality of litsea cubeba from Indonesia and lemon from Calabria, and the floral sweetness of lavender from Provence and hawthorn, before losing itself in a labyrinth of musky amber notes. Throw yourself into the excitement of the day with Petit Matin, a vibrant and luminous eau de parfum.’ – Maison Francis Kurkdjian
Francis Kurkdjian seems to be a polarizing figure in the community. I think his often modern, almost clinical style throws off some of the traditionalists. Generally speaking though, the consensus is that his skill as a perfumer and his blending is top-notch and that’s where I land.
This Petit Matin seems to be Kurkdjian’s silhouette in a nutshell; not overly complex, musky, strengthened with a lot of synthetics, but super smooth. I actually forgot how nice this was and I think it’s a sleeper in the MFK line (in my opinion, it’s better than any of the Aqua releases). Releasing it alongside Grand Soir probably cast a shadow over it.
It might feel a bit common for the price, but you’ll be hard pressed to find a unisex citrus aromatic this smooth and with decent performance. Luckily, I scooped up this 200ml at a whopping 70% discount, so no complaints for me
