Is it the perfect oud? Maybe not, but it’s definitely a great, easy to wear oud that’s also suitable for the warmer weather.
I have to say it nearly falls into the ‘just another rose-oud scent’ category for me, but it’s saved by creating a levity and brightness, while retaining the woody aspect. The oud here isn’t dark and it’s supported by cedar and iris; the latter feels quite prominent to my nose. It’s not fully powdery, but it’s a dry fragrance, almost a wood shavings or papyrus vibe. The rose itself is nice and balanced, not too jammy or sweet, but not too bright and fleeting. The brightness in part stems from the bergamot in the opening and a healthy dose of juniper.
I really like how this developped on my skin. It’s not the most exciting, but it’s very elegant and well-rounded. It finds such a comfortable way to combine the oud with the fresher side, that it makes for a pleasant wear. Some of my favorite ‘warm weather’ ouds are from Fragrance Du Bois, but there the scent of the oud gives way to the other notes almost completely, with Perfect Oud nothing is compromised. Thus it will make for a great performing Summer fragrance, because it performs well in any aspect. Sampling this has piqued my curiosity for the house of Mizensir greatly.
