‘With distinguishing marks of serene virility and exhilarating power, this unique creation embodies the sensuality of the much-appreciated vanilla, fused with an oriental twist of amber, sandalwood, natural oud and guaiac. All combined with floral heart notes of jasmine, lavender, bitter almond and geranium, the scent boasts a fine balance of fruits and spices including bergamot, pink pepper, cardamom and heliotrope. Nobler, with greater freedom, Pegasus Exclusif has set off in pursuit of new masculinity. With an image of deconstructed masculinity, as with the olfactory stereotypes, this fragrance’s essence undeniably bears the stamp of the contemporary man. Captivating luxury in an original matte metallic bottle with dark brown tones, Pegasus Exclusif is a scent full of character, which gains momentum on the skin. The exclusive nature of each ingredient affords the formulation of intense alchemy for its wearer, as well as exceptional strength and resilience.’ – Parfums de Marly

Pegasus Exclusif has that distinct bitter almond from the original Pegasus EDP and the Parfums de Marly sweetness. In the opening it deviates from the original quite a bit; similarly to the way that Layton Exclusif changed things up, although not as extreme

It really does feel like a blend of Pegasus and Layton Exclusif for moment; you have the metallic tinge of the bitter almond, but there’s an almost animalic green floral edge that mimics the sharpness in the opening of Layton Exclusif. The Pegasus DNA is undeniable though and once your nose adjusts to the slightly daring opening, you’ll find it starts to dry down to an ‘intense’ version of Pegasus quite quickly.

Pegasus was never one of my favorite Parfums de Marly scents, but I can appreciate it and I understand why people gravitate towards it. To me, the almond seems to be a bit harsh, even more so here, with the added woodiness and smokiness. It’s dry, nutty and powerful.

To be completely honest, Pegasus Exclusif places itself in a tough spot in my opinion. There’s nothing wrong with it, but if you’re not a fan of the profile of Pegasus, I can’t imagine that the Exclusif will change your mind. If you do love Pegasus, the Exclusif is probably the better buy, with excellent performance and a bit more personality in the opening. However, if you already have Pegasus, I’d argue that Exclusif doesn’t do enough to warrant doubling down on a bottle, because after a couple of minutes I was left with a similar experience.
