‘A father’s love for his son is a unique one, as is a son’s love for his father. The presence of a loved one, especially one’s child, has the capacity to sharpen the five senses. Hence, the notes in this fragrance are developed with a highly sensual approach, factoring in not only smell, but also taste and touch, integrating pink pepper and leather.’ – Jovoy
With Patrius, I kept getting semi-familiar wafts, but it is ultimately a nice scent. Perhaps a tad too sweet in the opening, which I found to be sort of a trademark for this brand.
It opens reminiscent of Tom Ford Tuscan Leather, but much sweeter and lighter, going more suede like too, but completely different to Ninawa. Patrius is less dry, more fruity. Has a vegetal quality to it, but slick, not rooty and dry as in Ninawa.
As it dries, I got little hints of YSL Tuxedo for a moment. A rich fruity sweet juicy leather, which after an hour goes more into a full-on and less interesting leather base.
