‘OUTCAST BLUE re-invents itself through a quintessential essence for an ultimate thrill. The extrait de parfum exalts the strong character of OUTCAST BLUE, ready to transgress the rules. Perfumer Jordi Fernandez boosted its base notes with a powerful Agarwood and adorned it with an overdose of the most textured ingredients to create a rebellious sillage on the skin.’ – Ex Nihilo
With The Hedonist Extrait being a success for me, I figured, why not also give Outcast Blue’s Extrait a try. And that didn’t work out nearly as well.
I’d never tried Outcast Blue prior to the Extrait and assumed it wasn’t going to be up my alley. Either way, the extrait didn’t save it for me. Often compared to Parfums de Marly Haltane and Initio Oud For Greatness, you get this mix of sweet oud-ish wood and slightly aromatic masculine leaning spices. Contrary to the name, I don’t think it’s ‘blue’.
It’s a heavier, harsher and to my nose, less pleasant, take on that Oud For Greatness type of scent profile. Outcast Blue is very earthy to my nose, earthier than the aforementioned alternatives. Overall, I didn’t enjoy my wear of it much.
