‘OUD silk mood Maison Francis Kurkdjian eau de parfum is a fascinating contrast much like a multicolored raw silk fabric: airy and steamy. Oud wood from Laos, a rare and precious material mingles with rose absolute from Bulgaria and bergamot from Calabria to come together in this floral, woody perfume with the fresh and bewitching trail, a harmonious balance of the East and the West. OUD silk mood eau de parfum delivers an enveloping, enchanting and infinitely seductive floral harmony.’ – Maison Francis Kurkdjian
Straight from the opening, this is more floral and lighter to my nose than Oud Satin Mood or Oud. It almost has a air freshener vibe, but not in a bad way. To end the comparisons to Oud Satin Mood here; this has a more acidic rose with the floral chamomile touch, whereas Oud Satin Mood had more of a fruity, lychee scent to my nose. And overall Oud Silk Mood, while still being quite loud and powerful, isn’t as thick and nuclear.
Oud Silk Mood’s rose is on the jammy side, but it’s not cloyingly sweet. The opening is a bit medicinal, but not so much that it bothered me. As it starts to drydown, I get a musky woody scent, with a bright, calming floral edge. It has a metallic tinge, probably from the rose, but everything has levity. It’s more (oud) woody than I’d expected, which helps with keeping this perfectly unisex. That being said, especially once that slightly medicinal opening fades away, it’s one of the easiest ouds to wear.
Anyone can wear this, although it leans on the mature side. I think I slightly prefer the scent of Oud Satin Mood, but I prefer the texture/performance of Oud Silk Mood.
