‘OUD silk mood Maison Francis Kurkdjian extrait de parfum revisits the silky and enveloping perfume with great intensity. The woody floral fragrance conjures the soft rustle of silk with a rose petal feel. Skirted with rose absolute from Bulgaria, papyrus and blue chamomile, the oud wood from Laos gently and elegantly takes flight. OUD silk mood extrait de parfum is a light and voluptuous scent.’ – Maison Francis Kurkdjian
Two years before finally trying the Extrait de Parfum, I reviewed the Oud Silk Mood EDP. At the time my nose was less developed, but I have to say that my thoughts are pretty much identical for this extrait now.
What I get mostly is a slightly greenish, acidic rose. The acidity is more floral, than the fruitiness from the more popular Oud Satin Mood.
Texture-wise Oud Silk Mood is a bit more subdued and mature, especially compared to Oud Satin Mood, which I ended up selling, because I found it too loud to wear in most situations. Oud Silk Mood is probably my favorite of the Maison Francis Kurkdjian Oud collection, although I wouldn’t be able to tell at the moment if the extrait is worth the upgrade over the EDP; I’d have to smell the EDP again and side-by-side.
Either way, this is a really nice. It has some of the common ‘rose-oud’ essence, but it varies from many in that genre; to my nose it’s 50% rose-oud and 50% green rose (like for example Amouage Epic Woman or Epic 56). The acidity in the opening makes for a nice transition into the warmer base. Overall, this is easily up there with Kurkdjian’s best releases for me.
