A free interpretation of oud wood, a rare and precious material, this OUD satin mood Maison Francis Kurkdjian eau de parfum reflects the creator’s desire to bring a shimmering facet to life. Wrap yourself in the woody ambery scent to suspend time and lose yourself in the depth of the here and now. Transported by the finesse of the violet accord, the oud wood from Laos bows down to the essence of rose from Bulgaria and rose absolute from Turkey to then blend into the rich vanilla amber accord. Oud satin mood is made to be delicately worn on your skin like a rich fabric.’ – Maison Francis Kurkdjian
Oud Satin Mood was the first Maison Francis Kurkdjian that I bought, although I later regretted that and wanted Grand Soir more. To this day I have a love-hate relationship with Oud Satin Mood.
Oud Satin Mood smells excellent and recognizable. To my nose the rose has a strong lychee fruitiness and soapiness in the opening. Every time I’ve tried fragrance that are compared to it, they miss a certain tinge that Oud Satin Mood has; it’s stunning.
The oudiness is pretty noticeable, but it is drowned in the jammy sweetness from the rose for most of the wear. The sweetness and loudness make this fragrance hard to wear for me. It’s a certain youthfulness and ‘screamy’ quality that turns Oud Satin Mood into a real attention grabber, whereas Oud Silk Mood feels a bit more mature. The Oud Satin Mood Extrait is also a tad less loud, but still an absolute beast.
The performance was nuclear on my skin and I ended up not wearing it, because I didn’t have too many days where I wanted to project this scent, this loudly, for an entire day. I actually ended up selling my bottle after about 2 years.
