‘Oud Orange Intense, a sensual journey of complex, warm musky notes, is comforting, indulgent and energetic, reminiscent of basking on a beach in warm sunshine. The fragrance immediately assails the senses with a coconut fruity mélange opening, while the purity of vanilla bourbon in the heart beautifully combines with the intensity of musk and Oud, in a warm, long-lasting base to this sweet fruity perfume.’ – Fragrance du Bois

Oud Orange Intense was not one that I’ve heard a lot of praise for when I first smelled it, but I really enjoyed it (I think it’s picked up some more praise since).

It’s a very accessible sweet warm scent. In that way, it’s not the most unique style of fragrance, but I really like how it’s executed. There’s a bit of fruitiness (not strictly orange), but it’s more of a sweet fruitiness. The same goes for the coconut; it’s not a soapy, sun tan lotion style coconut, but more of a sweet coconut (more like a coconut product like a Bounty and not an actual coconut).

The vanilla is strong and there’s a pretty substantial dose of musk, giving it a bit of a rougher edge than the other scents that I’ve tried from this house. It reminded me a little bit of the drydown of Maison Francis Kurkdjian Grand Soir, with some added coconut shavings.

Overall it’s really easy to like. The problem is that it feels like more of a ‘common’ scent, which at it’s price gives it a hard time with so many great vanilla-centric fragrances out there. On the other hand it’s one of the better performing Fragrance du Bois.
