‘Oud Jaune Intense is an intoxicating oriental floral fragrance, as enchanting as it is exotic, with an optimistic hue. A sparkling fruity floral mélange of exotic monoi, elegant ylang-ylang and juicy pineapple, subtly gives way to a white floral heart of jasmine and orange blossom. The pervasive Oud adds richness and a beguiling quality to a long-lasting milky, vanilla and musky base.’ – Fragrance du Bois
Oud Jaune Intense is a tropical white floral scent and probably my favorite Fragrance du Bois on women. Perhaps my second favorite from the house overall anno 2024, (pretty far) behind Sahraa.
I tend to enjoy tropical white floral scents, but not always love them or find them interesting enough. They can easily become too much like a shampoo or a sun tan lotion. Oud Jaune Intense is different; there is a fruitiness, especially in the opening, and it finds a nice balance between fruity, floral and sweet.
The florals are slightly indolic to my nose, but because of how well they are supported, it’s still an easy wear overall. White florals (especially jasmine) can be sharp at first in my experience, but here you get an almost milky, creamy texture from the first moment.
Maybe it’s my mind playing tricks on me, because coconut is often used in fragrances with ylang ylang and maybe it’s just the combination of vanilla and wood, but in the air I kept getting wafts of sweet coconut. Not quite as much as Santal Complet, but it’s a nice sweet touch.
As far as the wood goes; Fragrance Du Bois uses oud in most of their fragrances, but here’s it’s not something most people will pick up on. Regardless, a great fragrance.
