Oriental Velours is an interesting combination. Based on the name I had expected more of a (sweeter) amber fragrance. Instead the myrrh is mostly covered by woods with a green tint.
It’s definitely going into a minty, sappy, pine direction at first, with the resinous and sweetness falling behind. I’d consider this a ‘melancholic’ fragrance, with hints of calm mint and an incense-like smokiness. It’s slightly powdery and clean, but underneath it is a layer of earthiness and green forest elements.
I have to say this is my least favorite Les Indemodables; not surprising, giving my general distaste for green fragrances. There’s also a piercing scent in this composition, that I couldn’t shake. Something plasticy, like burning plastic or an oil like turpentine. It oscillates between a forest and fresh painting of one.
If you like greener scents, give it a go, although I much prefer the brand’s Fougere Emeraude in that direction.
