This is a flanker of Orange Crush EDP (2022).
‘Doubling oranges, doubling fragrance oils. We’re launching Orange Crush Extrait de Parfum in June (2025). Crush it once, Crave it forever. EDP vs XDP: From airy Iso E Super to the bold depth of Akigalawood. Orange Crush XDP takes everything you love about the original EDP and makes it even more intense. It’s bolder, deeper, and built to last even longer. The scent opens with bright, juicy Orange, bursting with energy and warmth. This vibrant intensity is balanced by the spicy warmth of Pepperwood and the deep, woody character of Akigalawood , while Musk adds a soft, lingering sensuality.’ – Fugazzi
This is quite a strange fragrance to me. Or maybe, strange for an ‘orange fragrance’, and more expected for a Fugazzi fragrance. While the orange is here and clearly there from the start, it’s also sweet, ambery, harsh, woody, sugary. I don’t know Orange Crush EDP well enough to make any comparison, but if this is a bolder, deeper take to make it longer lasting, I think I’d rather have the EDP myself.
Even more so than a lot of the ‘orange hard candy’ fragrances on the market, it barely feels like there is any real citrus to this, yet it has the overall elusion of orange. It is bright yes, yet not at all juicy to me, but rather bone-dry. Personally, I don’t really care for this type of citrus too much; it outperforms any sparkling, natural, pleasant smelling citrus, but in turn you sacrifice the freshness that it brings.
For the mid of the wear, this reminds me of a sugary orange water with some light, clean woods. Moving into a more clean musky base. Admittedly, with impressive lasting power on the orange side.
As with most fragrances from the house, you can for lack of a better description ‘smell the synthetics’. It feels neon-coloured, plasticy and a bit screechy, but definitely not unpleasant this time around. Just a tad too sweet. I was reminded of Goldfield & Banks Ingenious Ginger for example, but that has a bit more of a unique tinge and transition than Orange Crush Extrait. Perhaps the fragrance this reminds me of most is Fragrance One Office For Men.
Overall, a fine fragrance that mostly delivers what you’d expect. A potential hit if you prioritize performance and still want a citrussy tinge, but it does little for me.
