‘Swirls of oud wood create a journey into the heart of the desert. As the day passes, the path of the sun creates shimmering patterns of shadow and light on the dunes. Whilst everything else seems motionless, the desert comes alive and draws the traveller into a passionate odyssey. Ombre Nomade is designed for lovers of rare essences and concentrates that sensation of infinity into one of the most mythical ingredients in perfumery: oud wood. A rebellious material that is intoxicatingly beautiful, Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud has faceted this oud with a hint of benzoin and raspberry accents. Far away, a smoky wisp of incense floats towards the heavens. Never has oud been so mystical.’- Louis Vuitton
Up to this moment I’d tried 7 other Louis Vuitton fragrance and all were relatively light and Summery. Ombre Nomade was my first experience with a heavier release from the house and it offered a welcome change.
Ombre Nomade is a heavy oud rose. We’re talking diptyque Oud Palao or older formulations of Dior Oud Ispahan and not the newer, sugary sweet ones. It’s leaning more on the woody aspect in the Louis Vuitton. You get a hint of leather throughout and a permanent smokiness. Ombre Nomade is not for the faint of heart, but it’s finally a Louis Vuitton that I came across that really grabs the attention.
