One of it’s main selling points of Odisiaque is the use of cascarille; an uncommon ingredient. It’s a dried bark from a tropical bush, with a spicy kick. And spices is most of what you’ll get from Odisiaque. There’s a very persistent peppery scent with a light woody undertone.
In the opening there’s a wet, green aromatic tinge. Almost like a fresh tobacco. I also get some hints of liquorice throughout the wear. As it dries that tobacco-esque scent transitions into hay. Hay is a listed note and I can definitely picture most of the wear as a pepper and hay fragrance. It doesn’t develop much on my skin, so you have to enjoy the spicy, peppery scent as it’s going to be around for the entire wear, yet in a light, semi-fresh way.
Sidenote: I really enjoyed it, although it’s been overshadowed a bit, because Cuir d’Orient was such a love at first sniff for me (milky vanilla, heliotrope bomb) and I discovered them at the same time. I ended up swapping my bottle of Odisiaque for Cuir d’Orient.
