‘In the heart of Paris, Memo Paris rediscovers a mythical district that always surprises. For this, ingredients we love to find again, such as rose, patchouli and tonka bean, are enlivened by a creative fire, thanks to the radiance of amber, fanned by candied date and sandalwood. A new light illuminates them: is it that of the stage of the theatre that also bears the name Odéon, where the performance of each note and accord of the composition is applauded, or that which is reflected, at sunset, on the zinc roofs of the neighbourhood, chosen as motifs for the Odéon flacon? Both, with elegance.’ – Memo Paris

Odeon initially released as a Paris store exclusive, but I guess it’s been made available elsewhere at some point. This fragrance was quite different from what I expected; especially based on the few comparisons I’d seen (for example to Montale Intense Cafe). While this is also a sweet rose, it’s completely different to my nose.
What I get more than anything in Odeon is honey. I was sort of surprised to not see it in the notes. For a moment, I wondered if I mixed up my sample with Dyptique Orpheon, which does feature honeycomb and it turns out, someone else had made that connection. Odeon to me, is quite harsh, sweet, honeyed rose, with a lot of earthy patchouli underneath. The whole vibe borders on medicinal.
A fragrance that it reminded me of was Menditorrosa Rituale. Overall, not bad, but I didn’t love it.
