‘A fragrance made out of a single element called Cetalox. Usually used in perfumery as a base note, it plays here the lead role… Another advantage of this particular composition, is that it is entirely allergen free. The result is minimalist, elegant, pure. Juliette’s iconic fragrance !’ – Juliette Has A Gun
Not A Perfume is a one note fragrance by Julliette Has A Gun, following in the footsteps of the popular Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 and 02. In this case the single note is cetalox, which I understand is a close relative to the more known ambroxan (from Molecule 02). A fragrance like this is great for layering, but it can also be worn on its own. Cetalox here gives off a clean, fresh linen smell, that combined with body heat creates a subtle, but quite interesting blend.
For me personally, Not A Perfume was a bit more pleasant than the Escentric Molecules line. Perhaps it leans a tad more feminine, but it wears smoothly. As always with these types of perfumes, I think the experience will differ quite a bit from person to person.
Not A Perfume has a distinct, very light woody, maybe cardboard like scent to me, with an airy freshness that fades away as it turns warmer and warmer and cozier during the day. In my experience, the cetalox in Not A Perfume smells clean, yet pretty strong. Wearing it equates to wearing freshly washed laundry, after using an overdose of detergent.
