‘The perfume Nomad Soul evokes the indescribable feelings of travels who make you feel right at home. Starting a day with no story yet written, a blank page… Broaden your horizon and just simply trust your path. That’s where you belong… anywhere. Nomad Soul captures the thrill of unknown paths and its unforeseen secrets. At once mesmerizing and mysterious, Nomad Soul offers a unique journey. The notes of cardamom, delicately spicy, and the sweetness of the bergamot associated to intense rose and mate carry us in a warm, woody and voluptuous wake.’ – Les Soeurs De Noe
Nomad Soul is a really interesting release from the brand. I chose to review this one, as some people have likened this to Experimentum Crucis (#2 on my discoveries list in 2023). While very different, Nomad Soul is probably my favorite from Les Soeurs de Noe.
From the opening, a light citrussy and spicy vibe is prominent. Cardamom being the main player for a moment, but it feels very wet for a spicy scent. Quite green.
The same goes for the mid of the wear. Rose and mate are listed as heart notes and here too, you get an almost watery rose with a subtle hint of citrus and spice. The comparison to the Etat Libre D’Orange is understandable here, although I find this closer to their Hermann A Mes Cotes. That wet, dewy, plasticy after-rain scent is prominent in Nomad Soul as well.
Nomad Soul is not nearly as vibrant and acidic as the Etat Libre’s however, instead opting for more bitterness from the mate. There’s a hint of suede in the base, but the tea vibe is outstanding. It grows more earthy, but also a tad sweet along the wear. Within an hour I found it smelling like quite realistic tea leaves. Even a tad smoky, but accessible and easy going overall.
I’d smelled Nomad Soul in stores before and the greener opening seconds didn’t grab my attention, however upon wearing it now, I was surprised by how much of a tea fragrance it is. No surprise that it’s been compared mostly to Le Labo’s Thé Noir 29, although I don’t know that well enough to make a comparison.
A great scent overall.
