‘Outside, in the dark. After a sweltering summer day, nature exudes its lush scents in the coolness of the evening air. Nice Bergamote Extrait takes you into this mysterious side of perfume. More intoxicating, more candied, more compelling, the fragrance reveals itself in a different light, with a rare intensity thanks to a concentration double that of the Eau de Parfum. The full essence of a Mediterranean summer night.’ – Skins

Whereas Bois Imperial Extrait was a really nice upgrade over the original Bois Imperial for me, Nice Bergamote is a complete miss.
To be fair, I dont know the original Nice Bergamote all that well, but I don’t remember it being like this. Which, is a good thing, but unfortunately, the direction this Extrait takes, misses the mark for me.
Straight away, this doesn’t smell like bergamot. The usual softer, watery citrus is replaced by sweeter, more vivid orange. Bitter orange, rind and juice are prominent and are soon overtaken by sweet florals.
This one goes fully in a sweeter, bubblegummy, non-descript floral women’s designer direction; could easily have been an Armani My Way flanker. Dry, tart, hairspray quality. For my taste, there aren’t really any positives to note here from start to finish.
