I was definitely intrigued when Nexin was announced, but I’m not into blind-buying and I didn’t have an opportunity to test it in 2023. A year later, I finally got to wear this very limited release, and while it’s not really to my usual taste, I thought it was an excellent fragrance.
To me, most of Nexin is a herbal citrus. It has the traditional masculine after-shave, cologne vibe. However, not in the usual lavender direction, but greener and more citrussy. It reminded me of the familiar Acqua di Parma cologne style (like Essenza), but Nexin shines in its textures.
It gets quite creamy, early on in the wear. Like a creamy, smooth lemon. It also stands out by adding a slight mineralic tinge, presumably from the ambergris. It’s not in any manner animalic or even ‘marine’ like to my nose, but there’s a clean, mineral facet.
As it dries, I mostly get more florals, like orange blossom, but it remains somewhat citrussy, aromatic. A good mix of crisp, sharp elements and that creamy, almost buttery texture, presumably from iris.
Nexin is mature, classy, versatile. I think it fits the white bottle and a white t-shirt or perhaps also an (office) suit. Definitely up there with my favorites from Andy Tauer, albeit that I don’t often wear this style of fragrance.
