‘New Tradition is the symbol of a brand that translates centuries of tradition into a modern and innovative style. A perfume that becomes seductive by its sharp intensity combined with its discreet lightness. Speaking a new language of sensuality that’s both feminine and masculine, this scent smoothly adapts to the skin of every individual with surprising ease. An enthusiastic, safe and modern accord; both new and also something that we seem to have always known.’ – Etro
Etro is quite an under the radar and underrated brand (also by myself, as this is the first time I’m reviewing it on the site). I’ve tried them more often in stores and they have some good offerings. New Tradition is a great, soapy masculine-leaning fragrance.
It opens quite bright and very traditionally. Green, almost neon like, but with an underlying floral quality that feels classy and retro.
It smells familiar to me, although I can’t pinpoint what it reminds me of exactly. I think mostly I get a mix of the known mossy luxury soaps like Nicolai New York Intense and the brightness of Frederic Malle Noir Epices. I also get a hint of Habit Rouge for sure.
The mid of the wear especially has a lot of spices going on and iris feels quite dominant to me as well.
While it warms up, it stays on the sharp, bitter and acidic side. I wore this on a Summer’s day and it was a refreshing experience.
