Russian Adam recently launched Areej Le Dore’s 7th collection; based on the history of Indian attars. My personal favorites were Ambre Coco, Gul Hina and this Mysore Incenza.
And my love for Mysore Incenza has everything to do with the drydown. The opening contains jasmine and incense; I also smell bergamot even though it’s not listed as note. It’s relatively sharp and fresh in an herbal manner, but beneath it, you already feel the warmth and sweetness announcing itself. The opening reminds me of Hiram Green Voyage 2019.
Straight away there’s a honeyed quality to the scent. First, with the incense, which is something I can appreciate, but not fully love (that goes for almost any incense on my end). However, the more time passes, the more it becomes an amber fragrance. A slightly spicy, very honeyed amber with the beautiful thick sandalwood carrying it to the forefront.
It grows surprisingly gourmand to my nose, perhaps even more so than Ambre Coco. It reminds me a tiny bit of the cookie vibe from Frederic Malle Dries van Noten, but with more honey and incense.
Mysore Incenza isn’t a stand-out performer; it seems to be average longevity-wise, with a more intimate wear in the drydown; which pales in comparison to some of this collection, especially Amber Coco. That being said, the drydown is so cozy and comforting that it had to be my first full-bottle pick from #ALD7 (I later bought Gul Hina as well, and especially given its price, that is currently my favorite from this collection).
