‘Myrrh K Extrait de Parfum by Ella K Parfums brings together excess and the sacred. The fragrance opens with sun-kissed floral notes and bitter almond, moving into a soft sweetness of Omani halwa, honey, toasted sesame and golden saffron. The rose of Jebel Akhdar, hand-picked in the mountains of Oman, adds a subtle sophistication in the top. In the heart, a soft, luminous myrrh connects resin and skin. The base consists of toasted tonka bean, Madagascar vanilla and warm wood notes, with a deep, enveloping impression.’ – Skins

The opening confused me a bit; I was expecting sweetness and resins, instead, I smelled… tropical shampoo? I found it much cleaner, almost soapy, than the notes would suggest. With a fruity and floral side. However, there was an instant ‘candied’ quality to it.
This opening changes quickly into a sweeter, darker style scent, but I do still get a fruitiness. I was mostly reminded of cherry fragrances. Of course the listed notes like rose, saffron and almond do often surround cherry, so it may just be that connection in my mind.
It quickly becomes more generic to my nose. Sun tan lotion, coconut, a bit earthy, a bit sugary woody. I still get some cherry-ish hint that I can’t place well, but overall, a bit of an abstract cloud that rings more generic than I’d like to. It definitely starts to feel designer-adjacent.
This falls in line with my experience with Ella K since the brand started the ‘K’ releases. While they smell alright, I feel like the textures and clarity of ingredients that I always perceived with older releases by the brand, is no longer there at all.
