A new delicious floral fruity take on the classic My Way Eau de Parfum, evoking all the sun-drenched joy of the tropics. This uplifting, radiant scent opens with a bright Pineapple accord. Finally, an enveloping sensation unfolds with a Vanilla Infusion, mingling with the allure of a Creamy Musk accord. And yet another release falls victim to the ‘tart hairspray’ trend (apocalypse)… I don’t understand what this current wave of extremely tart and dry, cheap smelling fragrances that are supposed to represent juicy fruits is… and why it apparently is successful enough to keep doing it. I must be getting old.
I had high hopes for this; My Way has varying degrees of success for me, with My Way Parfum (2023) being my absolute favorite. Generally, I’d say it’s a fun line, albeit a bit too sweet in the drydown of Le Parfum for example. In this case; a Sunny Vanilla flanker seemed to be right on the money and if it was going to be actual vanilla, and not sugary cotton candy, I was positive that I could enjoy this release.
Sadly, I absolutely don’t. From the first moment, all the juiciness and most of the scent is squeezed out of the fruity opening. You do get a hint of sweet pineapple, but mostly, I get tuberose from the get go. Or some mix of white florals with green hues being as present as anything resembling pineapple. And it’s executed in a super dry, vaccum-like manner.
The scent is actually not unpleasant; albeit different from my expectations. Less fruity, less vanillic, but full-on floral tuberose, with a hint of synthetic smelling fruit candy. It’s just that texture that ruins it for me. It doesn’t feel like a My Way; it’s the scent of My Way in a recent Mugler Alien (Pulp, Hypersense) styling.
It stays dry, with a musky, airy, floral drydown (no idea why the notes list it as creamy musk, because there’s nothing creamy about this fragrance). Sweet, yet not all that vanillic, basically the bubblegummy tuberose we’ve come to know and love tolerate in designer perfumery. I’d argue not as sweet as you may expect for its theme, given some of the other Armani offerings.
High hopes, disappointing experience. Not the worst, especially versus many of these tart, dry releases, but ultimately very forgettable and a mismatch for its theme.
