‘We are living in the middle of a gender revolution, and ERIS PARFUMS is commemorating it with Mx., a luscious, woody animalic perfume for all genders. Named after the gender-neutral title starting to replace Mr., Mrs. and Ms. — the “X” in Mx. marks the freedom to be who you want to be, free from the constraints of gender. A sparkling mix of ginger, saffron, vetiver, and black pepper on a creamy bed of cedar and sandalwood, wrapped in rich notes of cacao, benzoin, and the animalic purr of castoreum, Mx. blurs the boundaries between conventionally masculine and feminine perfume notes to create a symphony of olfactory decadence.’- Eris
‘Mx. is a subtle mix of rich ingredients I love, without floral notes or diluted musks. It’s not a clean, neutral, unisex fragrance, but a lush, romantic, inviting scent for everyone – whatever their gender.’ – Antoine Lie (Perfumer)
Mx. is an interesting blend of notes, with a less eccentric outcome than I’d expected (as opposed to Mxxx).
I get a lot of ginger from the opening. Not overly citrussy, but more on the bitter and tart side. Mx. is also spicy, peppery in particular.
Straight from the opening, chocolate and woods are noticeable, but this is not your average gourmand-type of chocolate. More on the earthy side with a bitter and nutty facet to the barely sweet chocolate.
After I got adjusted to this mix, more and more of the woodiness became prominent to my nose. A pencil shaving cedarwood with a spicy overall feeling. I have to look for the chocolate vibe more and more, before almost completely disappearing within minutes, making Mx. a more conventional woody-spicy scent than I’d imagined. Very pleasant for a green-woody fragrance, but that’s not necessarily up my alley.
I do not get the daring or animalic side here; the animalics are more so found in it’s successor, Mxxx.. I find Mx. a lot fresher and greener and the warmer Mxxx. has my personal preference for sure. Mxxx. delivers clearly on what I failed to perceive in Mx.
