‘The inspiration for Muse Extrait de Parfum 62 Ink springs from a revelation: the essence of his eternal muses. Elegant. Powerful. Androgynous. Their irreverence, liberated spirit and sophisticated style fired up M. Saint Laurent’s inspiration, turning his creations into unforgettable silhouettes. The year is 1962, Monday the 29th of January. At 30 bis rue Spontini, a 25-year-old M. Saint Laurent unveils his first haute couture collection. The “little prince of fashion” has returned, and his muses, embodying his nascent vision, grace the runway. Their presence, their allure, captured in the swift strokes of his ink sketches. One figure stands out among the many. That of Victoire Doutreleau. His first muse, the very embodiment of his ideal. The supple movement of her skin, the spontaneous grace of her body in motion, become the inspiration for Muse Extrait de Parfum 62 Ink. This fragrance, part of Le Vestiaire des Parfums, is not merely a scent; it is a time capsule, preserving the creative audacity of that era. The Olfaction: An ambery woody juice crafted by Perfumer Marie Salamagne. The woody and luscious fragrance, reminiscent of Victoire’s warm skin, imbued with a delicate vanillic facet, reinvents the sensual depth of the original Eau de Parfum through the unique emboisement process. Meticulously selected for their moderately vanilla-like aromatic profile in the traditional cooperages with a long history in the spirits (cognac, whisky, rum) and wine industries, French oakwood shavings macerate for in MUSE’s signature ink accord. One week is the tipping point when the amber warmth of the wood enriches the macerated accord without overwhelming it. The top notes of the fragrance open with spicy incense, softened by an aromatic lavender accord from the Ourika Community Gardens. In this Moroccan terroir, the plants endure an extreme climate – from scorching summer heat to the biting cold of winter – forcing them to yield ingredients of unparalleled intensity. As the fragrance deepens, the powdery nobility of skin-soft iris pallida butter embraces musky ambrette. Finally, the base notes unveil the Ink accord with its smoky, liqueurish warmth, lavishly dosed with a trio of sensual Bourbon vanilla extracts, and entwined with the ambery smoky tones of an oud accord.’ – Aberdeen DutyFree
‘Emboisement enriches the ink accord by adding woody, smoky, slightly liquorous facets that amplify its depth and bolster its mysterious, exclusive character. The ink accord thus unveils dark, smoky, woody nuances, that endow the composition with textural depth and a unique, sophisticated sillage.’ – Marie Salamagne
