‘Moscow Mule’s olfactory trail hypnotizes its audience, as if it were inviting everyone to share, over a glass of something, A timeless moment, where tongues are loosened and bodies scolding hot. A twist of ginger for the sexy side, a zest of lemon for the punch! A limitless pleasure to be consumed without moderation.’ – Juliette Has A Gun
Moscow Mule is described as ‘intoxicating, dangerous and unforgettable’, but in my opinion, unfortunately, none of these adjectives apply. The fragrance makes proud use of Norlimbanol, a molecule that smells like ‘extreme dryness’, which is how I perceived it.
Combined with the dry, woody, scent are different citrus notes and ginger. For the first minutes this was interesting, it had a tart, almost sour candy vibe, that felt more watery, rather than dry.
Almost instantly it turns into a warm, dry, slightly woody scent, with a slight hint of alcohol. It also has a bit of smokiness to me. It’s not offensive, but bland and light.
On my other arm I combined Moscow Mule with Juliette Has A Gun’s Not A Perfume. The layering didn’t make that much of a difference as the two scents weren’t too far apart to begin with. Not A Perfume, supposed to be the more neutral booster, actually overpowered Moscow Mule and it basically became a little more comforting, warm, ‘fresh out of the dryer’ linen scent… that I’d take over the scent of Moscow Mule.
Performance for Moscow Mule was not good, Layering with Not A Perfume does help tremendously in this department. So sadly, this is a hard pass for me.
