‘More Than Words Xerjoff imagines a secret club of writers and poets, inspired by literature and the power of the written word; their creativity is bound only by the paper they write on.’ – Xerjoff
More Than Words was the first Xerjoff that I ever tried and I instantly liked it. For a long time I considered it one of my favorites from the brand. While that no longer remains true, it’s still a very solid release and I think this is a good introduction to the realm of rose-oud like fragrances.
I still feel that the opening is spectacular and one of the best juicy, fruity floral oud openings. My overall love for More Than Words has changed a bit as mentioned. It’s a nice scent, but it has lost the spark that I initially felt with it as it starts to drydown.
The citrus opening adds a lot, but when that fades you’re left with a (very) sweet rose oud scent that doesn’t stand out from the pack in my opinion. That doesn’t mean that it’s not a solid option for the style, it’s very much a worthy scent that many people rightfully love.
