For me Monaco had potential, especially since I do like this style of fragrance, but it’s not quite there for me to love it.
This reminds me of the sweet, boozy, woody style of a Van Cleef & Arpels Bois Dore. Creamy, vanillic, quite boozy. The scent of almond and tonka prevails once the booziness fades away.
There is a brighter facet to my nose; like orange or maybe even ginger that adds an interesting contrast to the opening.
Monaco, as I find with several from this brand, feels rather heavy-handed, with little room to breathe in the composition. It gets dense, creamy (a facet in quite a few of their releases) to the point where I’m missing some levity.
A pretty nice scent though and from the 7 Urbis that I’ve smelled at the time of writing, this and Marrakesh stand out.
