Cashmeran
‘Molecule 05 consists of the molecule Cashmeran pure and singular. Cashmeran has an unusually complex character for a single molecule. It combines a cocooning, musky softness with dry, aromatic woodiness and a sweet and resinous pine note. Cashmeran was created in a laboratory at IFF in the late 1970s.’ – Escentric Molecules
I once featured this in my ‘top 5 worst fragrances I’ve ever smelled’ video (during a short YouTube stint). Cashmeran, when overdosed, or as in this case, singular ingredient, has a very muddied, wet paper and cardboard-like quality.
I don’t agree with the ‘dry aromatic’ description of the brand; to me this smelled like a newspaper and a bat cave when the scent actually comes through. It’s a much used note nowadays and it can work very well, but when overdone, it can also be one of my least favorite note and this is definitely my least favorite of the Escentric Molecules so far.
