Miss Dior (from 2012 onwards) is a rebranded Miss Dior Cherie. The EDP was originally released in 2005 by Christine Nagel MISS DIOR Cherie EDP (2005). It was reformulated by Francois Demachy in 2011 MISS DIOR Cherie EDP (2011). Then it was renamed Miss Dior and it was released in 2012 MISS DIOR EDP (2012). It was reformulated in 2017 MISS DIOR EDP (2017). It was reformulated in 2021 MISS DIOR EDP (2021).
Miss Dior EDP from 2012 onwards are completely different fragrances from the original Miss Dior DNA from 1947, 1992 and 2011.
The only Miss Dior that I’m really familiar with is a vintage 1970s (1947 formulation) EDT. As explained in the paragraph above, the current Miss Dior has no connection to that DNA and is instead built on the ‘Miss Dior Cherie’ line that started in 2005.
In this case, I have a sample which I assume is from the 2021 formulation of Miss Dior EDP.
This opens very vanillic from the first moment. Vanilla, florals. A very recognizable style, done here in one of the more feminine renditions.
The fruitiness leans heavy on the peach or apricot, while I find the vanilla quite dry. In general, this is dry and powdery. The sweet powder starts to smell a bit off the longer I wear this.
There’s a general sense of florals, the peachy edge and a huge load of vanilla. Nothing really stands out, nor does anything smell particularly natural. That being said, it does smell nice if you don’t mind the sweetness I like that the sweetness is really in the vanilla and tonka direction and not sugary.
It’s pleasant. Initially seeming very safe and familiar, although there is some sharpness and others have commented on it smelling bad in a sour way. When I try to zoom in on the scent, I guess there’s a hint of sharper, stemmy, green in the florals, but it’s totally overpowered by the vanilla. The peachiness fights back the longest, but that too, eventually gets fully overpowered.
I’m surprised to see quite a few other reviews point to this as ‘very floral’; I question if those are this version of the Miss Dior or perhaps other flankers or older formulations. In my mind it’s hard to see this as ‘very floral’, given how prominent the sweetness is. Picture a marshmallow, but dried out and powderized and spritzed with 1 spray of a sharp (cheaper smelling) fruity floral perfume. Not bad, but definitely not great.
